- Honda’s Civic Type R, just launched in SA, is a finalist in the 2016 World Performance Car of the Year awards.
- First time for Honda has made the final five.
- 73 jurors represent 23 countries and region.

The World Car of the Year jury has voted Honda’s Civic Type R as one of the five finalists for the World Performance Car of the Year award.
The car, launched in South Africa towards the end of January 2016, is the first from the brand to make it as a finalist; whether it will be the overall winner should not surprise – but we’ll know at the New Tork auto show on March 24 2016.
The nomination is the latest good news in a successful year for Honda’s Made in England “race car for the road”; in September 2015 is took the Drivers’ and Constructors’ titles in the British Touring Car championship.
COMPETITION NOW 15 YEARS OLD
Two French publications, Echappement and L’Automobile Sportive, have already declared the Type R their respective Sports Car of the Year – the latter by readers.
There can be no doubt that the car will be among the finalists for the 2017/18 South African Car of the Year.
