LONDON, England – Pure McLaren has announced its first ice-driving experience for January 2017 with plans to run the session in northern Finland, 320km north of the Arctic Circle.

It’s claimed it will be the world’s only ice-driving programme to offer the thrill of the multi-award winning McLaren Sports Series.

The programme has been designed to give guests an extraordinary experience on snow-covered roads and on a frozen track. “Like all Pure McLaren events,” the company says, “the exhilarating programme has been tailored to the driver’s needs to help them achieve their goals, whether that’s mastering the infamous Scandinavian flick or building their confidence in challenging driving conditions.”

A team of professional driving coaches from Pure McLaren has been working with renowned winter testing facility Test World, a leading proving ground based in Ivalo, Finland, to provide one of the most varied ice-driving experiences available.

“Its expansive grounds, coupled with Pure McLaren’s professional driving team,” the automaker says, “provide a safe and secure environment in which to learn and practice.”

Guests will experience the multi-award winning McLaren 570S Coupé on a variety of track configurations, both ice and snow. The exhilaration continues away from the track with Pure McLaren teaming up with local travel provider Luxury Action to offer an exciting programme of winter activities, including a husky safari and snowmobile expedition.

Accommodation will be at Jávri Lodge, a former home of the Finnish president set among vast lakes and forests – deal position for seeing the phenomenon of the Northern Lights.

The event will run from January 15 to February 3 2017  with a maximum of 14 guests every three three nights. The event will be to drivers and non-drivers, whether they own a McLaren or not – as the first Pure McLaren activity of the 2017 schedule.

Prices will start at £12 500 (about R220 000) per person. If you’re in the market for a different, if expensive, holiday experience there’s more information at McLaren Experiences
