A South African team is in the US for what is said to be the most attractive international World Motocross Vets race on the calendar and staged at the world-famous Glen Helen track in California.

The four locals are Ryan Hunt, Andre David, Mark Ansley and Greg Aspinall, each a multiple MX champions with many titles to his name.

The team, sadly, is way down on the original possibles 15, many pulling out with injuries, limited support, visa problems or work commitments, but it’s thought SA World champions Greg Albertyn, Grant Langston and Tyler Rattray – now based in the US – might join the SA crew.

The race is the largest International World Vets motocross event and will see teams from more than 36 countries and as many as 50 000 over the weekend.

Ryan Hunt recently won his 12th SA National motocross title and achieved four decades of SA National motocross racing, said to be a record. He also recently returned from the UK International Vets World champs, the MXDN staged at the Fairleigh Castle track.

He reached sixth overall.
