- Six-litre V12’s power increased to 450kW
- Suspension honed to even greater precision
- Carbon-fibre splitter/diffuser, quad exhausts

GAYDON, England – Aston Martin has turned up the heat on its Super GT to create the Vanquish S with, the automaker says, sharper styling and greater potency.
This the second-generation of the Vanquish’s evolution to S spec has been given careful attention in regard to the engine, chassis and aerodynamics.

“The result,” Aston Martin said, “is a machine honed to deliver more intense thrills and even more scintillating performance.”
The six-litre V12 engine now makes 450kW (from 430kW) after revisions to the air-intake plumbing: larger inlet manifolds allow a greater more air through to the engine at high speed engine revolutions.
“That,” AM says, “creates relentless power delivery and a stronger feel all the way to the red line.”

The calibration of the eight-speed Touchtronic III transmission has been revised to deliver faster gear-shifts and greater refinement at low speed “for a greater sense of precision and immediacy”.

The suspension, shock-absorbers, spring rates and anti-roll bar bushes have been re-tuned to give the Vanquish S a keener edge without compromising its ability to deliver a supple ride.
The Vanquish S can be distinguished by the new carbon-fibre aerodynamic package involving a revised front splitter and rear diffuser combine, AM says, “to deliver a meaningful reduction in front lift with a minimal penalty in additional drag”.
This overall look can be further enhanced with a range of new options. These include carbon-fibre bonnet louvres, new forged five-spoked, diamond-turned, wheels and a choice of striking graphics packs.

The cabin cab be personalised with a choice of quilted leather and new materials and optional finishes that include a new style of facia panel, Scottish leather for the upholstery which will have a Vanquish S logo stitched into the head restraints.
Andy Palmer, Aston Martin’s president and CEO, told The Corner in a media release: “From the moment the original Vanquish was launched it became an icon. It propelled the brand from an era of hand-built cars to one in which craftsmanship and technology combine to create a new kind of great British GT.

“The second generation the Vanquish maintained that momentum with huge engineering advances such as its all-carbon fibre bodywork and compelling styling. The Vanquish S takes things a step further, confidently asserting itself within the Aston Martin range and distinguishing itself from the new DB11.
“The Vanquish S, a spectacular machine in every sense, is a magnificent addition to our range.”
The new model is available in both Coupe and Volante versions and the recommended retail price (guidance only for South Africa) starts at £199 950 (about R3.5-million) in the United Kingdom.
Deliveries in Europe will start in December 2016.
