- First Everest from Silverton sailing off Kenya
- Full range for export into sub-Saharan Africa
- Four countries targeted for November

The first South African-built Ford Everest SUV for sub-Saharan Africa is on its way up Africa’s east coast to buyers in Kenya.
The Moondust Silver Everest 2.2 XLT 4×4 (pictured) left Durban on November 12 for the port city of Mombasa and a dealer there.
Ockert Berry, Ford’s Middle East and Africa boss, told The Corner in a media release: “This is an exciting period for Ford. We’re seeing the fruits of a more than R2.5-billion investment.
“The Silverton assembly plant is now assembling the Everest and Ranger for South Africa and export.”
EIGHT DERIVATIVES
Future Everest exports for shipping though November, Ford says, are destined for Madagascar, Tanzania and Cameroon. More markets will follow.
Eight derivatives are available: 2.2 and 3.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engines, XLS, XLT and range-topping Limited specification levels, manual and auto, as well rear and all-wheel drive.
