HONDA MOTORCYCLES has announced a new motorcycle for 2017 that, the bikemaker says, is “a totally fresh take on custom cool – the Rebel”.
How cliched…
Anyway, if any of you remember a film called ‘Easy Rider’ you’re probably old enough to remember flashback bikes such as this and maybe even buy one.

Slim, blacked-out to the max, and with a low 690mm seat height, Honda’s media release tells us “the Rebel mixes old- and new-school style to fire the imagination of a younger generation of riders.
And, presumably, that of old people.
THREE COLOURS, GLOBAL DEBUT
A tubular-steel frame draws what Honda thinks are “fresh, contemporary lines” into a stripped-back, fat-tyred ‘bobber’ style with mid-mounted footpegs and “a relaxed and neutral riding position with gently outstretched arms”.
No, the rider, not the bike….

The Rebel has a liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder, engine from Honda’s 500cc catalogue.
For cruising, the fuel-injected unit has, Honda explains, “injection mapping focused towards a more torque-heavy output while retaining a sporty feel to its smooth and linear power delivery, for a ride that is engaging as well as easy”

The Rebel will be available in black, silver or red and is having global debut at the Long Beach International Motorcycle Show in California (Nov 18-25 2016).
