TOKYO, Japan – The upcoming 2017 Geneva auto show is being seen by Mitsubishi Motors as a turning point for its brand through the launch there of its latest SUV.

The wagon is said to be the first of a new generation of Mitsubishi Motors’ vehicles so The Corner asks: “Will it be different enough to stand out as did the Pajero back in the early 1980’s?”

“With its striking design,” Mitsubishi says, “the sporty and coupe-like SUV will line up alongside the Mitsubishi ASX and Mitsubishi Outlander to broaden the brand’s model range and introduce a whole new audience to Mitsubishi Motors, a name long associated with stylish, tough and extremely capable SUV’s and 4×4’s.”

‘WEDGE BELTLINE’

The automaker says the mystery wagon will be “sharper in its expression” than a conventional coupe with its chamfered contours – “a wedge-shaped beltline and a distinctive V in the rear quarter coming from forward-slanted C pillars to chunky, muscular rear fenders”.
