- Total takes up main sponsor role
- Six races planned through 2017
- Five car categories designated

JOHANNESBURG, Gauteng – Fuel and lubricants company Total SA has announced a year’s sponsorship of the SA Cross-Country Motor Racing Series.
The company is already sponsoring the Toyota Gazoo Racing team.
Total will supply fuel for all six events through the year – five in South Africa and one in Botswana – for all cross-country vehicles, motorcycles and quad bikes.
The series will be known, rather wordily The Corner thinks, as the South African Cross-Country Series Powered by Total. Each event will have a qualifying race on day one to sort start slots for the race on day two.
There will be five classes in the car category: two- and all-wheel drive. The bike/quad category will have 11.
‘PROFESSIONAL PRESENTATIONS’
Total SA’s boss Pierre-Yves Sachet told The Corner in a media release: “Total has an ambitious growth plan for coming years to improve the visibility of our products. The series will focus on our fuel and the Toyota Gazoo Racing team of Giniel de Villiers and Leeroy Poulter.
“The professional way in which the series has been presented and its attraction for international teams will bring us additional benefits and we look forward to an exciting calendar.”
