PARIS, France – The 2018 Geneva auto show, Peugeot says, will see the French brand raise the bar in the D-segment with the world reveal of its all-new 508 four-door hatch, described as ”sporting a radical new aerodynamic design”.
It’s said to have ”a bold, new, and low coupé design with the enhanced practicality of a rear hatch” inspired by the sport coupé genre through the use of sharp window design, frameless doors and alloy wheel rims.

Peugeot enlarges: ”It showcases a beautifully integrated hatch with a significantly larger aperture to access the 487-litre boot.
”It also has all the hallmark features of the latest Peugeots, including ‘claw-effect’ diode rear lights.”
NIGHT-VISION SYSTEM
The cabin has a leather-trimmed steering wheel, a 30cm touchscreen angled towards the driver, and a 31cm head-up digital instrument panel and for under the bonnet there’s a choice of six petrol or diesel engine / transmission combinations from , covering 98 to 170kW.
The new flagship unit will have ”class-leading” driving assistance systems, among them a night-vision system that employs an infra-red camera to spot pedestrians in poor visibility.

Peugeot’s CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato told The Corner: “The 508 follows our most-recent high-profile launches and SUV offensive – the 2008 SUV, 3008 SUV and all-new 5008 SUV. The 508 will carry the same ambition: to shake up the market with an outstanding new car that can compete with the best.

”We are talking about the best car manufacturers in the world. The all-new Peugeot 508 is a perfect example of the ambition we embody in everything that we do. We will continue to establish Peugeot as as the world’s best ‘high-end generalist’ automaker.”
It’s expected to reach global showrooms from the middle of 2018.
