LONDON, England – Auto Trader, the UK’s largest automotive marketplace for new and used cars, made a bold move before the World Cup kicked-off by announcing a new-car giveaway for every goal scored by England in Russia.
Despite the England team defying all expectations with eight goals (so far), plus a a ticket to the World Cup quarter-finals, Auto Trader put its money where its mouth was, paying out £156 135 in cars: two Jeep Renegades, three Abarth 595s, two Alfa Mitos and a pair of Fiat 500x.

So far the #AutoTraderGoals hashtag has been used more than 140 000 times and has trended on Twitter each and every time England found the net.
‘I CRIED WHEN I WON!’
For Tuesday’s game against Colombia, Imogen Ryan (right), a 24-year-old paediatric nurse from Reading, won an Alfa Mito for Harry Kane’s goal in the 57th minute.
She said: “I was crying with joy when I found I had won. I’m 17 weeks pregnant and we desperately need a new car – so to win one in this way after such a dramatic end to the game was beyond a dream – I love Harry Kane but I love Auto Trader more!”

Attention also fell on Saturday’s game against Sweden, where Auto Trader hopes to congratulate more new-car winners, extending the competition into the semi-finals next week.
HEADACHE FOR FINANCE BOSS
Auto Trader’s Lei Sorvisto, said: “When we started this competition we didn’t anticipate so many England goals so we’ve given our finance director a few headaches but we’re thrilled for all of the competition winners and we’re fully behind the England team to bring it home!”
