Gasly was Formula 2 champion in 2016 and had his F1 debut with Toro Rosso in Malaysia in 2018. Pundits believed he was the obvious driver to replace Ricciardo. He’s had three top-10 finishes so far in 2019.
Gasly said in a media release: “To be awarded a drive at Aston Martin Red Bull Racing from 2019 is a dream come true. Its been my goal since I joined Red Bull’s Junior Driver programme in 2013.”
