JOHANNESBURG, Gauteng – A year down the back roads, trails and highways and one of South Africa’s favourite 4×4 wagons – Mitsibishi’s Pajero Sport – has been awarded a no-extra-cost upgrade.

That got your attention, hey…? Though perhaps those who stepped up a year ago might be a trifle disgruntled…

Whatever, the wagons – 4×2 and 4×4 – have been given a number of upgrades. Indeed, Nic Campbell, Mitsubishi Motors SA’general manager, told The Corner:

OK, so what’s changed?

SEVENTH CRASH BAG

Parents keen on off-roading will be glad to read that IsoFix child-seat anchors have been introduced as well as a seventh crash bag to cushion the driver’s knews should a bad happen.

Apart from the additional child seat safety, a seventh crash bag for the protection of the driver’s knees in the case of an accident has also been added.

Still present, however, is the 2.4-litre, 133kW / 430Nm turbodiesel driving an eight-speed transmission capable of hauling 2700kg (4×2) or 2790kg (4×4).
