JOHANNESBURG, Gauteng – A year down the back roads, trails and highways and one of South Africa’s favourite 4×4 wagons – Mitsibishi’s Pajero Sport – has been awarded a no-extra-cost upgrade.
That got your attention, hey…? Though perhaps those who stepped up a year ago might be a trifle disgruntled…
Whatever, the wagons – 4×2 and 4×4 – have been given a number of upgrades. Indeed, Nic Campbell, Mitsubishi Motors SA’general manager, told The Corner:

“Our market is continuously researched to determine how our designers and engineers can improve owners’ driving experience to keep Mitsubishi at the forefront of innovation and cutting-edge technology.”

SEVENTH CRASH BAG
Parents keen on off-roading will be glad to read that IsoFix child-seat anchors have been introduced as well as a seventh crash bag to cushion the driver’s knews should a bad happen.
Apart from the additional child seat safety, a seventh crash bag for the protection of the driver’s knees in the case of an accident has also been added.
Still present, however, is the 2.4-litre, 133kW / 430Nm turbodiesel driving an eight-speed transmission capable of hauling 2700kg (4×2) or 2790kg (4×4).

Mitsubishi claims to have ”the best all-wheel drive in the world”, still with the long-running used is the Super Select II system with four drive modes and gradient-descent control.
Electronic off-road assistance is available to handle gravel, mud/snow or sand with optimised engine output, transmission settings and braking. A rock setting for extreme off-road conditions can be engaged in 4LLc.

The Pajero Sport starts at R569 995 for the 4×2 eight-speed auto and R619 995 for the 4×4 with Super Select II all-wheel drive, the latter with electronic off-road assistance.
The Pajero Sport will be delivered with a three-year or 100 000km warranty and a five-year or 90 000km service plan. Service intervals 10 000km.
