- Yet another award for the iconic 4×4
- ‘Most accessory-friendly in its class’
- Dodge Challenger also highly regarded
LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Jeep’s Wrangler has for a ninth consecutive year won the ‘4×4/SUV of the Year’ title at the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association show here.
The announcement of the 2018 winner was made outside of the Las Vegas Convention Center on October 29.
The Wrangler remains the only vehicle to earn the trophy since the 2010 launch of the Sema awards and its maker says the off-roader earned its customisation crown in recognition as the most accessory-friendly vehicle in its class, as voted by Sema exhibitors.
Steve Beahm, head of parts and service (Mopar) and Fiat Chrysler Autos for the US told The Corner in a media release:
‘STAR OF PORTFOLIO’
“The Wrangler continues to lead the way in the customisation world thanks to the Mopar brand’s introduction in late 2017 of more than 200 Jeep Performance Parts and accessories.
“The Wrangler, when it comes to personalisation, is a star of our portfolio …and it just keeps getting hotter.”
For the second consecutive year the Ram 1500 bakkie was recognised as one of three finalists in the “Truck of the Year” class; the Dodge Challenger earned finalist honours in the “Car of the Year” category.
Sema’s president and CEO Chris Kersting said: “Once again, the Wrangler was voted as a favourite from the aftermarket community. Whether drivers are accessorising the Jeep for off-roading or for everyday driving, there are outstanding options available for Jeep owners.”
