- Versatile wheels for family or business
- Frugal 75kW engine, long warranty
- Lots of options, alloy wheel rims standard
JOHANNESBURG, Gauteng – Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has introduced to South Africa a one-litre TSI Trendline version of its Caddy to support sales of the second-best seller in the VW commercial vehicle portfolio.
VW tells The Corner the little cutie is space-efficient (i.e. makes the most of what it has), looks ”sleek”, has ”affordable” running costs and is a fourth-generation model said to be ”popular with private and fleet buyers”.
It’s only been available in SA since 2015.
Already in showrooms are a two-litre TDI Trendline, a seven-seater Caddy Maxi, and the Caddy Alltrack.
Mark Handley, sales and marketing boss at VW commercials, told The Corner: ‘‘The 1.0 TSI Trendline Caddy offers exceptional value at R306 300 so we hope it will increase the Caddy’s market share.“
LOTS OF OPTIONS
The Trendline brings a number of new features and more options; standard, however, are a Composition Media radio/touchscreen, 16” alloy wheel rims, heatable rear-window glass, power-adjustment, heatable exterior mirrors, aircon, power window-lifts, leather-wrapped steering-wheel (multifunction an option), height adjustable front seats, a multi-function display, roof rails, under-seat storage, front fog-lights and static cornering and daytime running lights.
Options are front and rear parking radar, reversing camera (not on units with optional tail doors), cruise control, removable tow ball, and xenon headlights with separate diode running lights.
The perky 1.0 TSI Trendline three-cylinder engine makes 75kW/175Nm and feeds it to the road through a five-speed manual gearbox. VW says 5.6-litres/100km is possible.
