- Choice of three Ingenium engines
- Special cabin finishes in colour choices
- Unique badging throughout the cars
PRETORIA, Gauteng – Jaguar has revealed a Chequered Flag special edition as part of the 2019 model-year updates to the XF Sedan.
The cars, due in South Africa from April 2019, will come with a selection of unique exterior enhancements, interior design elements, and a choice of British-built Jaguar Ingenium engines – two petrol and one diesel.
Ian Callum, Jaguar’s director of design, told The Corner in a media release: “The XF sedan combines the elegance and exceptional performance which underline all Jaguars and has a beautiful and dynamic silhouette suited to the Chequered Flag badge.”
The cars will have unique badging on the side vents, a boot-lid spoiler and gloss-black, 18”, alloy wheel rims. Three exterior colours will be available: white, black and grey.
Every cabin will have unique badging on the tread plates, aluminium touches on the instrument panel and R-Sport leather upholstery in either black or black and red, with contrasting stitching.
A number of options for the XF will be standard on the special edition.
SPECIAL SMARTPHONE PACK
The satnav takes internet information to, if possible, avoid traffic jams using a 31cm colour display and the cars will have keyless entry.
A model-year update will include a new Smartphone pack, which features Apple CarPlay, on all models. It can display data from the user’s smartphone to access apps.
The Chequered Flag models will be available with a choice of petrol and diesel engines.:
184kW Ingenium two-litre petrol four-cylinder, RWD
221kW Ingenium two-litre petrol four-cylinder, RWD
132kW Ingenium two-litre diesel four-cylinder, RWD
A sweeping silhouette, Jaguar says, is formed around the cars’ ”aluminium-intensive” shell which ”combines the outstanding proportions, elegant surfaces and perfect lines which define all Jaguar cars”.
Among tech touches are ‘All-Surface Progress Control” to handle low-grip surfaces and ”Intelligent Driveline Dynamics to deliver optimum performance and capability”.
The cabin furniture, Jaguar says, uses a blend of luxury materials and finishes, traditional Jaguar craftsmanship, and intuitive technology: a 31cm info display (laser head-up display optional), and an infotainment system.
Pricing will be available when the cars arrive.
