SEOUL, South Korea – Hyundai will unveil a Sonata 1.6 Turbo at the March 28-April 7 2019 Seoul auto show – it could be launched this year – alongside a new range of N Performance parts due for 2020.
The Sonata 1.6 Turbo will have a 130kW ‘Smart Stream’ T-GDi petrol engine with the option of an eight-speed auto transmission and feature a range of what Hyundai calls ”sporty and sensuous design enhancements that complement the vehicle’s performance abilities”.
The nose will have what Hyundai’s trademarkers have dubbed ”our first ‘Parametric Jewel’ grille, a wide design element that accentuates the vehicle’s bold image and is flanked by air ducts beneath the headlights”. A wing-shaped rear spoiler is intended to add high-speed stability, the rear bumper is unique and shelters twin exhausts.
The wheelbase over the four-door shell is longer and the roof lower than previous Sonatas.
The new N Performance will be a Veloster adorned with 45 N Performance parts and a large dose of customisation. Launch is expected towards the end of 2019 but the model on show. These addings add 14 driving performance parts, including light forged wheels, larger brake calipers and pads, high-performance suspension, and high-performance tyres.
11 exterior style parts are also fitted, among them carbon-fibre skirts, diffuser and rear spoiler while the cabin also sports sheets of carbon fibre, Alcantara upholstery on sport bucket seats, and more carbon on the steering-wheel, parking brake, all pillars, and facia.
The cars will have a matte gray finish and yellow front splitter and external mirror covers.
Hyundai Motor will, during the show, host test drives of the Nexo, Veloster N, and i 30 N Line from Hyundai;s design studio.
