AUBURN HILLS, Michigan – Fiat America has announced a range of models from the 2019 Fiat 124 Spider Urbana Edition., and they are beautiful and they will be displayed at the 2019 New York auto show.
The Urbana Edition will offer a further option for Fiat 124 Spider buyers in the US to customise their roadster with dark exterior and interior accents that create a sporty appearance.
Steve Beahm, head of Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and Fiat in North America, told The Corner in a media release: “Our Italian-designed Fiat 124 Spider has the most powerful four-cylinder turbo engine in its class and promises an authentic top-down roadster experience with fun-to-drive dynamics.
“The Urbana Edition gives a head-turning, custom appearance, to the Fiat 124 Spider.”
BASED ON CLASSICA
The cars are based on the Fiat Classica model and includes Black Diamond 17” aluminum wheel rims wrapped by performance tyres, dual bright exhaust tips and shiny black exterior accents, front pillar bar bezel, seat-back pillar, and mirror caps. Front foul-weather lights are also fitted.
Interior features include matte gray accents, Urbana leather/microfiber u[holsery and a padded instrument cluster hood and instrument panel.

The Urbana Edition package is available (in the US) for US$995 on 2019 124 Spider Classica models, which start at US$25 190 which, Fiat US says, makes the Fiat 124 Spider there the most affordable roadster in its class.
Fiat US says the 124 Spider has revived the brand by ”bringing its classic Italian styling and performance to a new generation”. It ”pays homage” to the original 124 Spider more than 50 years after its introduction, and ”delivers the ultimate Italian roadster experience with driving excitement, technology, and safety combined with iconic Italian design”.
The car was designed at Fiat’s styling centre in Turin, Italy, using the original Spider, and is, the automaker added, ”widely considered one of Fiat’s most beautiful cars with its low-slung presence, classic body side, well-balanced proportions, and a sporty cabin-to-hood ratio”.
Three options have been add for 2019: a new exhaust, a new ”Veleno Appearance Group”, and customised central exhaust pipes.
Power comes from a 1.4 MultiAir Turbo four-cylinder engine, said to be the first application in a rear-wheel-drive vehicle. The engine delivers 123kW and is available with a six-speed manual transmission or auto transmission.
The cars ride on a double-wishbone layout up front and multi-link at the rear, each tuned for stability while braking and turning. Steering, Fiat says, is light and responsive with electric power -assistance. Wind noise is muted by an acoustic windscreen and insulation.
Crash protection and security features include diode headlights, blind-spot monitors, rear ”traffic approaching!” scanners and a reversing camera.
Technology/convenience features (some optional) include keyless entry/start, Bluetooth, heatable seats, Bose hi-fi and Fiat Connect with a 19cm touchscreen.
