- Special edition Ford Figo Blu hatch – but only 360!
- 15” alloy wheel rims, three colour choices
- Leather-wrapped steering-wheel, stitched shifter

PRETORIA, South Africa – Ford has given its Figo compact hatch ”a dose of individuality and eye-catching style”, badged it Figo Blu, and so taken the Figo range to seven models, two of them sedans.
Doreen Mashinini, Ford Southern Africa’s marketing boss, told The Corner: “We developed Figo Blu for customers who want uniqueness, to push boundaries. The standard Figo hatch is already competitive in the compact segment but this special will really stand out from the crowd.”

The car is based on the five-door Figo 1.5 Trend but only 360 units will be assembled. They can be easily distinguished from the standard Figo thanks to a number of styling additions.
DECALS ON THE DOORS
There’s a black mesh grille, distinctive accented housings for the foul-weather lights and blue bezels. Black, multi-spoke, 15”, alloy wheel rims replace the Trend’s 14” versions and are matched by black housings around the external mirrors.
”Attractive decals extend along the length of the lower sections of each door.”
The roof is black; Ford SA says that ”provides a dramatic and effective contrast” to the three available body colours: silver, white, or grey.

The door linings have glossy blue inserts, the same colour as the leather covering the steering-wheel, gearshift gaiter and the ‘Figo Blu’ logo embroidered into the front throw-mats.
SPACE FOR SMARTPHONE
Standard features include central locking, perimeter anti-theft alarm, and an immobiliser.
A Ford Audio unit plays through four speakers; incorporated is Bluetooth connectivity, a USB slot, and a ”device dock” in the upper section of the centre console to handle a smartphone.
Driver and front-passenger crash mitigation bags and anti-lock brakes are there too – just in case.

Motive power comes from a quad-valve, 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, petrol engine with an aluminium block and cylinder head. It is controlled by twin independent variable camshaft timing (hence the TiVCT moniker).
