Ferrari F8 Tributo: Celebration of spotted-cat excellence now in SA

  • ‘Best eight-cylinder in the world’…
  • and 340km/h from the 536kW V8 turbo

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – The mid-rear-engined two-seater berlinetta that pays homage to the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history is now available in South Africa:

The car, the Italian automaker says, ”represents the highest expression of the Prancing Horse’s classic two-seater berlinetta – a car with unique characteristics that pay homage to the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history”.

”It makes the exhilarating performance of the best eight-cylinder in the world,” it adds, ”accessible to all drivers (oh really? -Ed) with unprecedented handling and superior ride comfort.

”Its record power makes it the most powerful V8 yet in a non-special Ferrari, achieving heights no longer in turbo territory.”

BEST V8 IN 20 YEARS

It’s been used in other Ferraris  in lesser states of tune and won “Best Engine” in the International Engine of the Year awards three years running  – 2016, 2017, 2018. That last was also names as ”best engine of the last two decades”.

The car has a top speed of 340km/h and delivers its 536kW without turbo lag and Ferrari is confident that the car has exceptional handling to accept the huge power – aided by ”state-of-the-art” aerodynamics from track experience.

The shell design came from the Ferrari Styling Centre and is described as ”essentially a bridge to a new design language that will continue to emphasise Ferrari’s key characteristics of high-performance and extreme aerodynamic efficiency.

”In fact, the F8 Tributo is the most aerodynamically efficient series-production mid-rear-engined berlinetta yet designed.”

The car replaces the 488 GTB with significant improvements for better control on the limit along with greater passenger/driver comfort and an extra

The F8 Tributo punches out 37kW more than the 488 GTB, is 40kg lighter, and benefits from a 10% improvement in aerodynamic efficiency.

Scuderia SA CEO, Mervyn Eagles told The Corner in a media release: “The F8 Tributo unquestionably sets the market benchmark for exhilarating performance, ease of handling, and driving pleasure.

”The Anne Van Dyk Cheetah Centre now has a big cat adopted by Scuderia SA to celebrate a likeness of beauty, performance, agility and speed. Both the F8 Tributo and our cheetah have strong aesthetics, handle corners with precision, and can hit 0-100km/h in less than three.

”As the official Ferrari dealer in South Africa. we’re proud to support and endorse the conservation of these rare and glorious creatures.”

The  F8 Tributo will have a roadshow across South Africa but the cheetah will remain at her home at the cheetah centre where she can be visited by the Ferrari family and continue in her mission in educating communities about her fellow rare and endangered species.
