JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – The mid-rear-engined two-seater berlinetta that pays homage to the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history is now available in South Africa:
The car, the Italian automaker says, ”represents the highest expression of the Prancing Horse’s classic two-seater berlinetta – a car with unique characteristics that pay homage to the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history”.
”It makes the exhilarating performance of the best eight-cylinder in the world,” it adds, ”accessible to all drivers (oh really? -Ed) with unprecedented handling and superior ride comfort.
”Its record power makes it the most powerful V8 yet in a non-special Ferrari, achieving heights no longer in turbo territory.”
BEST V8 IN 20 YEARS
It’s been used in other Ferraris in lesser states of tune and won “Best Engine” in the International Engine of the Year awards three years running – 2016, 2017, 2018. That last was also names as ”best engine of the last two decades”.
The car has a top speed of 340km/h and delivers its 536kW without turbo lag and Ferrari is confident that the car has exceptional handling to accept the huge power – aided by ”state-of-the-art” aerodynamics from track experience.
The shell design came from the Ferrari Styling Centre and is described as ”essentially a bridge to a new design language that will continue to emphasise Ferrari’s key characteristics of high-performance and extreme aerodynamic efficiency.

The F8 Tributo punches out 37kW more than the 488 GTB, is 40kg lighter, and benefits from a 10% improvement in aerodynamic efficiency.

The F8 Tributo will have a roadshow across South Africa but the cheetah will remain at her home at the cheetah centre where she can be visited by the Ferrari family and continue in her mission in educating communities about her fellow rare and endangered species.
