WOKING, England – McLaren Automotive has confirmed that the latest version of its McLaren 720S – 2019 World Performance Car – will be available in a scaled-down economy version.
It’s for younger aspiring supercar fans and will be available globally at a serious discount from the bigger version.
They cars will be branded as the Ride-On and though smaller – well, they have to be for drivers who are only three to six years old – will be indistinguishable from the real thing unless they are parked together.

Size, as they say, counts…
The kiddiecars will be available with a range of real McLaren paint jobs – the brand’s versions of orange, blue, purple, black, another blue, white and grey.
REAL DIHEDRAL DOORS
The McLaren 720S Ride-On follows the 2016 launch of the brand’s first children’s electric car, the McLaren P1TM Ride-On which could well inspire younger McLaren enthusiasts to, eventually, go for the real thing.
”The 2019 Ride-On,” McLaren said in a media release, ”is expected to become the talk of the playground (though The Corner doubts any will make it to a public play park) by further embracing the McLaren ethos.
”The units will have functioning dihedral doors, exposed carbon-style elements, and signature 720S styling cues.
The cars will be powered by an electric motor controlled by a genuine accelerator pedal and emit engine sounds, There’s an ”ignition” key and Dad (or Mom, of course) can use remote control for parental driving lessons.

A brake function with brake light and a dashboard display screen that gives key information will help to allay any toddler’s battery- range anxiety.

The screen also houses an infotainment system with buttons for various functions and the youngest McLaren drivers can listen to music or watch a short movie by plugging a USB or SD card into the sockets provided.

A selection of popular songs for six-year-olds is pre-loaded into the system.
The cars will cost, in the UK, from £315 – about R5670 as of June 2019 – which means the dad who buys the real thing could have bought 700 for the price of one real 720S Coupé.
