JOHANNESBURG, Gauteng – Winning a brand-new Ford Focus was not only a dream come true for Karen Swanepoel but also an amazing birthday present.

It came from oil company Castrol and its Magnatec engine lube brand.

Karen explained: “On April 3, which was my birthday, I took the day off, went shopping, spent time with my family, and ran a few errands – one of which was to buy spares for my car.

”I drove to AutoZone, Boksburg, and bought a five-litre container of Magnatec.”

THEN CAME A CALL…

The sale came with a free entry into a ”win a car” promotion. She thought no more about it until a month or two later when she took a phone call to tell her she’d won a brand-new Ford Focus.

”I thought it was a joke at first but then I started to cry – I just couldn’t believe it.”

Shane Solomon, Castrol Africa’s head of marketing, commented: ”It’s always wonderful to run a promotion and experience such sheer joy when sharing the winning news.
