IRVINE, California – Three decades after its debut Mazda’s MX-5 (Miata in some countries) is still tempting fans around the world so, in February 2019, the Japanese automaker announced another run.

But only 3000 units badged ’30th Anniversary… the allotment for the US was quickly filled.

One of those passionate fans was one Gerald Blum of St. Petersburg – his family’s 13th was one of the first of the specials to be delivered in the US and a long time since he bought the 249th unit of the first run 30 years earlier.

“What I love most about Mazda is the experience of driving the car,” Blum said. “As a diehard Mazda enthusiast, I’m thrilled to be among the first to get the new MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary and cannot take my eyes off the brilliant Racing Orange paint scheme.

”Orange is the new red!”

The striking colour is unique to the brand and the shell houses a refined Skyactiv-G engine and runs on 17” Dark Gunmetal forged alloy wheel rims housing orange Brembo front brake calipers and exclusive Recaro sport seats.

The world’s best-selling roadster will continue to be a torchbearer for Mazda and, the automaker says, ”carrying a rich legacy while elevating the brand to a premium level”.

Mazda North American Operations in Irvine oversees sales, marketing, parts and customer service in the US and Mexico through nearly 700 dealers.
