JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Suzuki South Africa popped the Champagne corks in August 2019 to welcome its 75 000th local customer and set record sales through its dealers and its best sales yet.
The National Association of Automobile Manufacturers reports that Suzuki sold 1581 new vehicles through that month to elevate the brand to eighth-bestselling automaker. It was also Suzuki’s third record month in a row, representing a jump in year-to-date sales of 23%, compared to a decline in the overall vehicles market of 3.9% and a drop of 5.7% in the passenger market.
André Venter, divisional manager for sales and marketing at Suzuki Auto SA, told The Corner in a media release: “Were most excited about our dealer sales’- 1057 Suzuki through August, the most yet for our network. Each represents a fellow South African who chose to trust our brand with their hard-earned money.”
He also pointed out that the SA vehicle market continued to decline from 2018, losing 1.6% in June, 3.7% in July and another 3.9% in August.
The latest Swift continues to be the brand’s best-seller.
Suzuki Auto SA has sold an average of 1221 units a month so far 2019 – an increase of 21% in average monthly sales – pointing to its best year yet.
