PARIS France – The first Jeep plug-in hybrid electric vehicle for the EMEA region will be the star of a Jeep exhibition in the heart of Paris.

The Jeep Renegade PHEV will be previewed at the MotorVillage Champs-Elysées until September 25 2019.

The all-roader had its premiere at the March 2019 Geneva auto show and its international on-road debut at Turin’s Parco del Valentino motor show three months later – but the Paris exposure could be the icing on the top of all the promotion.

The new model will take centre stage during a Playground expo dedicated to Jeep’s affinity with sport and indeed includes partnership with the World Surf League.

Displayed in Trailhawk specification, the Renegade PHEV has features that bring out the model’s strong personality while being eco-friendly and respectful of the urban environment thanks to a battery-only range of about 50km. The vehicle combines a 1.3-litre GSE turbo petrol engine with an electric motor between the rear wheels powered by a set of batteries that can be recharged while driving or by using an external power outlet.

At home using a wallbox or with a public charge point can recharge in between 90 minutes and three hours, depending on electrical supply.

The combination of petrol and electric power can send the Jeep to 100km/h in seven seconds and reach 130km/h thanks to the combined power output reaching 140-180kW (depends, Jeep says, on trim level).

Off-road ability also benefits: the greater torque from two power sources.

The Renegade PHEV has a unique interior and dashboard, plus a 21cm HD Uconnect system with specific pages to allow the driver to control its day-to-day hybrid driving operation. Selec-Terrain maintains its location in front of the gear shift lever, while the hybrid selector sits next to it.

These are the drive modes:

Hybrid: Optimises power to minimise fuel-consumption. Petrol engine and electric motor work together depending on surface with energy recovery when braking.
eSave: The petrol engine can maintain or recharge the battery while driving.
Electric: Full-electric mode gives a range of about  50km.

A TFT colour display shows extra information: battery charge, range in electric, combustion or combined modes, power percentage and recharge levels. The Uconnect screen has new tabs such as power flow, driving history, charging times, eSave and charge settings.
