JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – The Toyota Avanza has been around on the South African market since 2010 but is still, its maker says, achieving close to 450 sales a month.
Pretty healthy, then, in the people-mover market with its seven seats and high stance that makes entry and exit easier than a sedan or wagon.
The Avanza also claims to have easy-to-maintain mechanical components and affordability to appeal to a wide range of private and business users. Now Toyota SA has further jacked-up the happy little bus.
For 2019, Toyota says, the flagship TX model has received some aesthetic and quality upgrades, while keeping in tune with core customer requirements. Mechanical specification, the automaker says, are unchanged.)
The range topping TX-grade, is furnished with revised front and rear bumper designs, new split-level LED-headlight with vertically airdams and foul-weather lights.
A stylish body-coloured accent strip divides the headlights and, Toyota says, creates a border between the chromed upper and black lower grille sections. More aerodynamic exterior mirrors, a shark-fin antenna, and turbine-shaped 15” alloy wheel rims further complement the styling changes.
Moving to the rear, a new rear boot spoiler, revised tail lights (with clear elements) and chromed accent strips help the new TX model stand out.
A new deep blue exterior colour, Fervent Blue, has been added to the colour palette – with Tusk white, Quicksilver metallic, Graphite Grey and Gold Leaf metallic remaining.
The S and SX grades retain their current exterior design and packaging.
Each new Avanza will have a new a rotary-dial-type HVAC controls to push-button control with digital readout. To meet customers requests, the interior trim has been changed from light to dark grey. Front and rear 12-volt accessory connectors have been fitted as standard.
