LONDON, England – Toyota Gazoo Racing has confirmed that it will start sales of GR Supra GT4*1, a race car for customer teams, in March 2020 in Europe, expanding to the US by August and to Japan and Asia in October.
The cars will be based, Toyota says, on the GR Supra – Gazoo’s first global model released earlier in 2019 and has been developed and produced by Toyota Motorsport.
A three-litre in-line six with a twin-scroll turbocharger has been tuned to 320 kW to spin a seven-speed sport auto/paddle shift transmission and the mechanical limited-slip differential will drivethe rear wheels. An Akrapovič exhaust system will be fitted and Ravenol will provide first-fill lubricants.
The front splitter and rear wing are made of a natural-fibre composite, contributing to an overall weight of 1350kg. Following the specification for the GR Supra road car, the front suspension will be MacPherson strut, rear multilink with KW shock-absorbers front and rear.
The braking system has been boosted with dedicated brake callipers for racing – six-piston front, four rear, with Pirelli tires.
Safety will be provided by a high-strength rollcage on a light steel body and an FIA race seat with six-point harness to hold the driver tight while scanning a carbon-fibre instrument panel and a steering-wheel designed for GT4 competition.
