JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Race engineer, racing team manager and F1 commentator Vic Maharaj has joined the Motorsport SA executive team.
He’ll be sporting services manager with overall responsibility for anything related to the various forms of motorsport that fall under the jurisdiction of MSA.
Adrian Scholtz, CEO of MSA, told The Corner in a media release: “MSA is very excited to have someone with such deep knowledge of racing, engineering, and all the aspects that play a role in the sport.

”We believe Vic’s local and international motorsport experience will help us to develop all forms of motorsport.”
ENGINEER AND MANAGER
Maharaj is perhaps best known as an anchor commentator for SuperSport’s Formula 1 broadcasts for 15 years but he’s spent most of his career as a race engineer and team manager.
Maharaj started his career in 1992 as an engineer with De Beers but his love for motoring and motorsport saw him join BMW SA in 1994 as a technical consultant with a focus on race vehicle preparation. He then moved between the roles of race engineer and team manager.
In his most recent position as head of VM Innovations Maharaj also took the reins at the Sasol GTC Racing Team as team manager, while he served as a technical director for the GTC series.
Maharaj officially started in his new position on November 1 2019 and will be stationed at Motorsport SA’s head office in Roodepoort, Gauteng.
