Kubica, 35, joins Alfa Romeo as reserve for 2020 F1 series

LONDON, England – Robert Kubica has joined Alfa Romeo as the F1 team’s 2020 reserve driver… a role he first  filled 14 years earlier when he made his F1 debut with the team then known as BMW Sauber.

The deal will also see Polish oil company PKN Orlen, which backed the now 35-year-old’s comeback in 2019 with Williams, be a co-title sponsor for a number of years.

Reuters reports that Kubica’s big break came in 2006 when he became Poland’s first F1 driver, replacing Canada’s 1997 World champion Jacques Villeneuve at BMW Sauber and going on to win for them at the 2008 Canadian F1 GP.
