PRETORIA, South Africa – Jaguar Land Rover, as part of on-going transformation in connected services, can now remotely install the facility in earlier units.
This, the automakers say, will mean every owner can receive future software updates without visiting a JLR franchise – including the latest Touch Pro and Touch Pro Duo infotainment systems which now feature a smartphone pack with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard with no subscription fees.

JLR is also offering the SOTA capability, Touch Pro, and Touch Pro Duo infotainment upgrades – including the smartphone pack for existing customers in South Africa for most models assembled from 2016.
Nick Rogers, JLR’s product engineering director, told The Corner: “We are passionate about creating and delivering the latest technology to customers.
”Building on the connected capability of the new Defender, we have made our pioneering software-over-the-air capability for infotainment updates standard on all our vehicles.”

Such updates will display a pop-up notification within the infotainment system and users will be able to accept the prompt in much the same way as smartphone software updates.
Another message will confirm installation.
