DEARBORN, Michigan – Owners of the new all-electric Mustang Mach-E will be able to keep their machine’s tech current with over-the-air updates that will work continuously to improve the SUV… even when being driven.
The factory can upload updates in the background – sometimes in as little as two minutes.1
John Vangelov, Ford US’s connected services manager, told The Corner in a media release: “The beauty of Mach-E is that what each new owner will experience on Day 1 is just the beginning – it will evolve to add features and capabilities.

“Over-the-air updates will also minimise downtime through incredibly fast activation to ensure each new Mustang Mach-E is always getting better, even when in your garage.”
WHILE YOU SLEEP
These improvements are said to go ”well beyond” current SYNC updates: nearly all Mach-E computer modules can be updated wirelessly so Ford can provide performance enhancements – even entirely new features – that might not have existed when customers took delivery.
Some installations might not even be noticed if the owner selects sleeptime to receive them. Other updates, Ford says, can be done almost instantly after a customer closes the driver’s door.

Alerts on the info screen will list details of newly installed improvements: more complex updates will require the car to be parked – selected by the owner.

First updates will likely arrive six months after the first Mustang Mach-E is delivered but owners will be notified when software tweaks become available and can be delivered through wifi or cellular connection – depending on their complexity.

The Mustang Mach-E is the first for treatment through 2020 – updates will begin equipping most redesigned vehicles in the US with advanced over-the-air updates over time while reducing dealer trips.
1. Updates can be activated in under two minutes; updates that require the vehicle to be parked can be scheduled at the owner’s convenience.
