WesBank refutes fake vehicle repossession claims

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Banking finance house WesBank has refuted May 20 2020 claims that it was planning to repossess 45 000 vehicles.

WesBank’s head of marketing and communication Lebogang Gaoaketse told The Corner: ”These claims are false and unfounded.”

“Repossessions are always the very last resort for WesBank,” he add. “The bank would rather consult with customers to make new arrangements for payment, than repossess a vehicle.

”Even during these challenging times our priority is to assist our customers where possible. A payment relief option is available to those negatively affected by Covid.

“We’ve received more than 100 000 applications. More than 53% of customers who applied have qualified for assistance – a clear indication of our focus and so such allegations are irresponsible while customers are vulnerable and need solutions.”
