JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Hyundai’s Venue range in South Africa has been expanded with a limited version – a two-tone exterior colour scheme and a bespoke cabin treatment.
The Venue Limited Edition – 500 Fluid and Glide specs – joins the rest of the range was launched at the end of 2019 as Hyundai’s new small sport ute.
The newbies have a white roof / blue body paint jobs will be fully imported with denim/leather upholstery to set them apart from the original Venue range. They will, however, use the same three-cylinder, turbo, Kappa 1.0 T-GDI engine capable of 88kW/172Nm.
Fluid units will have either a manual six-speed transmission or a seven-speed auto dual-clutch transmission; the flagship Glide only the DCT.
As Hyundai’s most affordable SUV, the Venue is aimed at urban adventurers with a taste for trendy design and ”a remarkable driving experience”.
Stanley Anderson, sales and operations director of Hyundai Automotive SA, told The Corner in a media release: “The Venue was very well received in South Africa but the Limited Edition adds a little more pizazz for people shopping for a small SUV with a stylish exterior, outstanding comfort and convenience, and and a powerful but very efficient turbocharged engine.”
The Limited Edition’s two-tone exterior is said to have added an extra dimension, complemented by the striking 16” alloy wheel rims, impressive aerodynamics with the rear shark-fin spoiler.
The Limited Edition’s light beige interior colour theme, offset by denim and leather cloth seats, also distinguishes it from the other units in the range.
Hyundai says the cabin has adequate space not only for commuting but also long road trips given its 60/40 flat-folding rear seatback for the Glide version. The cargo space has stowable cover.
The Limited’s infotainment system has a 20cm display/touchscreen which doubles as a reversing monitor and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone functions such as app-based satnav, streaming audio, and voice-controlled searches.
The leather-wrapped steering-wheel hosts audio controls and cruise-control buttons. Glovebox cooling and rear aircon count are also present.

The Venue Limited Edition’s three-cylinder turbo diesel engine peaks at 88kW at 6000rpm and is capable of 172Nm from 1500-4000rpm.
Fuel consumption was measured at 6.5 litres/100km for the manual transmission variants, 6,9 for the DCT.
The Venue has six nitrogen crash-mitigation bags – two front, two side-impact, two side curtains along with belt pre-tensioners and IsoFIx kiddieseat anchors.
Electronic stability control is standard along with anti-lock brakes and hill-start control.
