LONDON, England – Lewis Hamilton limped on three wheels to his seventh British Formula 1 GP at Silverstone on Sunday despite the last-lap puncture that shredded a front tyre.
He had, however, dominated the race at the home of Formula 1 pole position until lhe had to nurse his Mercedes across the line to stretch his championship lead to 30 points.
“I have definitely never experienced anything like that on the last lap,” Hamilton told the Reuters news agency.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was second – though he could have won had he not had to stop for new tyres.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was third, regarded as another surprise for a team struggling for performance.
