• New grille, lights and silver highlights standard across DC range
• Cruise control, reversing camera, touch screen on S10
• S6 gets cruise control and power side-mirrors
CAPE TOWN, South Africa – Mahindra has added specification and style upgrades to its S6 and S10 double-cabs and says the move upgrades its Pik Up range – started with the S6 single-cab – is complete.
The S6 and S10 are the last to receive the brand’s new frontal design – a wide, seven-slat, grille, larger chromed Mahindra logo, clear headlights, and round foul-weather lights in a redesigned redesigned lower bumper.
”The grille was first added to the S11 a/t introduced earlier in 2020,” the automaker says, ”but has since found its way to the Mahindra Scorpio. The bumper design was also recently added to the range-topping S6 single cab.
”The grille makes a more distinctive difference between specification levels. The S6 single- and double-cabs have silver-painted highlights on the grille and the lower light surrounds – those on the S10 and S11 a/t models are chromed.”
‘ATTRACTING NEW FANS’
The new clear headlights and turn indicators are now standard across the range.
All models except the Pik Up Karoo also now have Mahindra’s redesigned bolt-on cab protector though they have been redesigned to be sturdier and with extra tie-downs. The Karoo hangs on to custom-designed styling and nudge bars with Karoo detailing.
Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra SA, told The Corner: “The Pik Up range is attracting new fans. Our South African assembly facility can barely keep up with the demand. With the upgrades, we believe we have the bakkie for customers looking for reliable and capable, but always affordable, double-cabs to fit their lifestyle.”
All single- and double-cab S6 units now have cruise control and powered external mirrors – those on the S10 and S11 also house turn signals and all models have one-touch lane-change signaling.
In addition to the new look and upgraded cab protector, the S10 double-cab npow has the same 19cm infotainment system that also, on some models, shows the view from a reversing camera. The most recent maps and language pack for South Africa have been added.
Rajesh Gupta again: “There is a Mahindra Pik Up for every taste – especially since Mahindra added 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain options and our 103kW turbodiesel engine, regardless of spec level.”
The upgraded double-cab range is now available across the Mahindra network from about R4000 a month for the S6 double cab with a 10% deposit and a balloon payment of 35% due at the end of the 72-month repayment cycle.
