PRETORIA, South Africa – Jaguar Racing has revealed its i-Type 5 battery=powered race car throughg a Covid-beating virtual launch before season seven of the ABB FIA Formula E world championship.
And names the cars’ drivers.
The electric single-seaters will each have a new in-house power train scheduled to run for two consecutive seasons with engineers’ focus on battery efficiency, weight-shedding, and ”a perfect centre of gravity”.

New suspension parts, it’s hoped, will allow more adjustment to accommodate track variations; a more-efficient inverter will improve switching speeds and performance – also helped by 24-carat gold bits.
AND THE SPONSORS ARE…
Sam Bird and Mitch Evans will be the pilots: Evans has been with Jaguar Racing since it joined the all-electric championship in 2016; Bird has won races in every Formula E season.
Jaguar Racing’s leading partner line-up will include GKN Automotive, Viessmann, Castrol, Alpinestars, and DR1VA. The drivers will be suited in Polo Ralph Lauren quilted jackets bearing a Jaguar Racing logo.

The i-Type 5 cars’ seats will be ‘sustainably-sourced’ prototypes to test possible technology for future road cars.
Jaguar Racing will return to the streets of Santiago on January 16 for the first of 14 races in 12 cities.
