JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Steffen Knapp has been appointed head of VW cars in South Africa to replace Martina Biene.
Knapp, originally from Germany, has come from VW India where, the company told The Corner, he developed a successful turnaround strategy for the brand.

Mike Glendinning, VWSA sales and marketing director, said: ”Knapp will continue the work initiated by Martina Biene and complement that with his own initiatives. He has strategic skills and a wealth of experience, which augur well for VW team and its dealer network.”
Knapp has an economics degree, has spent his career so far in the automotive industry, and has held various management positions within Europe.
