JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Toyota SA has opened t entries for the 15th annual Toyota Dream Car Art Contest and is inviting entries from children younger than 15 years up to the closing date of March 31 2021. The contest is intended to encourage youngsters to explore their creativity and ”transport their imagination beyond our physical confines”.
The Toyota Dream Art Contest is variously for children younger than eight; from eight to 11; and 12-15 to inspire budding designers by inviting them to submit sketches of their favourite cars.
Toyota SA told The Corner in a media release: ”It is intended to create opportunities for children around the world to develop their interest in cars and help them to feel the joy and importance of having a dream through drawing pictures of their dream cars.”
So, if your child loves drawing and relishes the opportunity to put pencil to paper, then this competition is for them.
The contest was first held in 2004 in Japan and continues to be one of the largest international competitions for children to share their ideas about the future of cars while encouraging them to pursue their dreams.
The contest was conceptualised by Toyota’s president and CEO Akio Toyoda. He wanted to create a platform to teach children to use ”the power of dreams and imagination” while stimulating their interest in cars.
Glenn Crompton, Toyota SA’s vice-president for marketin, added: “We believe art is a powerful mechanism of escape – hence the importance of our Dream Car Art Contest. We had concerns this year, just knowing that people are dealing with a lot more on their plates with the pandemic but hope our competition will offer children a healthy outlet – even if it’s just for a little while.”
So, children from all over the world are invited to share ideas about the future of mobility by drawing their dream cars to nurture creativity in the next generation of great inventors, thinkers and dreamers.
The competition comprises National and World contests. The national contest will be held in each participating country until March 2021.
