JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – The eighth iteration of Volkswagen’s Golf GTI will be in South African showrooms on (perhaps even before?) September 1 2021.
Next question: How much? And that’s what Carman’s Corner is about to tell you…
It’s said to be the most digitally advanced GTI and comes with an extra 11kW over its predecessor: the four-cylinder, turbo, two-litre, is capable of 180kW with a torque peak of 370Nm to spin a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
How fast? 6.4 seconds to 100km/h is how fast.

VW’s launch plans for the Golf 8 GTI includes(d) a digital South African premiere in July with countrywide customer events which allowed enthusiasts to be among the first to experience the award-winning cars.
The 2021 Golf GTI will be delivered with a three-year or 120 000km* warranty, five-year or 90 000km* service plan and a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty.
Service intervals 15 000km.
Damn, we nearly forgot but thanks for reading so far! Price for the Golf GTI 2.0 TSI 180kW DSG -R669 300.
