JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Volkswagen’s T SUV range will, the automaker tells The Corner, be bolstered by the arrival of VW’s Taigo as we head into 2022 even before launch date news..
The model, VW SA says, will join its T-Cross and T-Roc ranges to complete a trio of compact SUVs during 2022 made up of seven models – T-Cross, Taigo, T-Roc, Tiguan, Tiguan Allspace, Tiguan R (launching third-quarter 2022), and Touareg.
Taigo derives its name from a combination of ‘tiger’ and ‘Taiga’, the latter a forested area in the northern hemisphere and so “symbolises strength, outdoors, adventure”.
YEP, A SUNROOF TOO…
The Taigo, VW says, is “a trendy crossover with raised seating, pioneering connectivity, many driver assistance systems, comprehensive passenger protection, diode headlights, a digital cockpit, and the latest infotainment systems.
It will also have tilt/sliding sunroof but a single engine provision – a one-litre TSI 85kW DSG engine.
