2022 – Suzuki reaches new heights in February

CAPE TOWN, South Africa – Suzuki recorded another strong month with record new vehicle sales in South Africa during February 2022 (December was 2102.)

Naamsa, the SA auto industry’s business council, reported on March 3 2022 that the Japanese brand’s moving of 3240 new vehicles was its best yet – significantly more than the brand’s full-year sales of 2819 vehicles in 2008 – its first year in SA.

It was the second consecutive month of 3000+ sales and contributed to brand consolidation as the country’s third-largest vehicle brand by sales – 51% more than February 2021 and up 18.4% over the same period.

Fleet and government deliveries – 710 – also out-performed expectations.

Henno Havenga, dealer sales manager, told The Corner in a media release: “Naamsa highlights the improvement in consumer and business confidence and a general improvement in the economy.”

The (1313 sales) remains South African’s most popular Suzuki, followed by the Vitara Brezza (664) – each very popular among fleet buyers.”

The Jimny also had a great month – 394 after climbing steadily for six months on the news that many more were on the way to SA.

Havenga added: “We expect sales to rise further – our supply of vehicles has improved steadily since lockdown eased and we have several new models, among them the new Suzuki Baleno and value-for-money Celerio – expected soon.”
