Shelby expanding – new phase, more dealers

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Shelby SA and RTR SA (Dueller Group) are entering a new phase in their growth and development by deciding to expand and focus on getting the brands to more people and across more geographical areas.

“As a small, family-run, operation,” the company told The Corner, “we strive to make big waves with forward-thinking decision. South Africa is following the global trend of building relationships between the Ford and Shelby – now South Africa is following suit.”

Shelby SA has appointed six Ford dealers – McCarthy Ford Silverlakes, McCarthy Ford The Glen, Fury Ford Midrand, Motus Ford Kempton Park, Novel Ford Paarl, CMH Ford Umhlanga – and has plans for a Free State dealer and neighbouring African countries.

BIG PLANS FOR SHOWS AND EXPOS

The Shelby SA Modshop in Malmesbury, Western Cape, will continue with Shelby America-approved Mustang upgrades and the installation of drivetrains into Shelby Heritage Cars.

A spokesperson told The Corner: “We have big plans to attend shows, expos, and other events to promote ourselves and have partnered with a well known workshop in JHB North to accommodate all other (non- Shelby) servicing, repairs, and mechanical work.”

Lindenberg Racing has eight cars and six drivers to compete 2022 events and the Lindenberg Racing operation, also in Malmesbury, and says it will continue as it has for 43 years with preparing championship-winning cars.

“We will relinquish our Sandton showroom in April 2022,” The Cornet was told, “to focus on brand exposure, relationship with partners, and commitment to Ford dealers we don’t want to compete. However, we’ll keep our offices in Bryanston, Sandton, the East Rand, and Malmesbury.”

NON-COBRA SERVICING, TOO

Vehicle bookings can still be made with Paige at Shelby SA or directly through your preferred dealer but for now Ford Mustang service and your interim Shelby servicing will be done through an authorised Ford dealer.

“We have big plans to get back out there to attend shows, expos and events and promote all we have to offer. We have partnered with a well known workshop in JHB North to accommodate all other (non- Shelby) servicing, repairs and mechanical work and have no doubt that we will provide you with the best possible workshop service through our new partner.

Lindenberg Racing now boasts a team of 8 cars and 6 drivers who will be competing in various events in 2022, making our schedule very exciting and jam-packed! The Lindenberg Racing operation, also based in Malmesbury, will continue as it has for the past 43 years, preparing championship winning cars.

EASIER SERVICING AT DEALERS

With everything mentioned above requiring a major time, energy and resource commitment we will be relinquishing our Sandton showroom as of April 2022 to focus our efforts on our brand exposure, our relationship with our partners and our commitment to our Ford dealers, who we do not wish to compete with. We will still have an office in Bryanston, Sandton, the East Rand and Malmesbury in the Western Cape.

With this expansion it gives you, our customers, an easier, more convenient way of servicing your vehicle at any of the above Ford Dealerships. Bookings can still be made with Paige at Shelby SA or directly through your dealer of choice. Both your Ford Mustang service and your interim Shelby service will now be done through a Ford dealer within our authorised network.

Shelby SA has spent a lot of time with each of the authorised dealers to train and equip them for the servicing of Shelbys going forward and we are confident that you are in good hands. The Shelby SA team will be working very closely with the dealers on a daily basis and will be involved in all the Shelby work being carried out. Shelby SA will deliver the specific Motul oil and other parts needed for each Shelby booked in.
