- 1.6-litre, three-cylinder turbo engine
- AWD with customisable front/rear power settings
- Core and launch year-exclusive Circuit Edition
LONG BEACH, California – Buyers, in the USA for now, can take home units of Toyota’s 2022 GR Corolla with a compact, yet powerful, turbocharged, direct/port injected, three-cylinder engine capable of 223kW/370Nm.
Peak torque flows from 3000-5500 rpm, maximum power is reached at 6500rpm, waste gases expelled through a unique triple exhaust.
The engine spins a rally developed, GR-Four, all-wheel-drive drivetrain which can be set to 60-40, 50-50 or 30-70

The cars will be unmistakably hatchbacks but retail in either Core and Circuit Edition versions, the former however not until later in 2022 but with a contrast-colour roof and rear lip spoiler, GR-Four stamped side rockers and wide-fender flares. There will be seating for five on GR-logoed, fabric-covered, sport seats.
The Circuit Edition will be a limited-run available in 2023. Standard colors will be white, Supersonic Red or ‘Heavy Metal’ with the same GR-Four stamped side rockers and wide fenders as the Core.

It will, however, come with a carbon-fibre roof, vented bonnet bulge, a rear spoiler, suede upholstery, and a launch year-exclusive Morizo signed gear-shifter.
All units will be fitted with a touchscreen multimedia system but no prices were available at the time of writing.
