Jaguar TVS racing back for E World championship

JAGUAR TAKING TO THE STREETS: Jaguar Racing to return to Eternal City..

THE CIRCUIT in Rome, Jaguar Racing told The Corner, has delivered excellent results for the team which secured its first Formula E win there with Mitch Evans in 2019 and success continued in Season 7 with Jaguar TCS Racing’s first double Electric podium.

Now racing is back in Rome for Rounds 4 and 5 of the 2022 Formula E World championship and qualifying and races will be aired live on SuperSport this weekend, April 9 and 10.

Drivers will be Sam Bird and Mitch Evans who finished second and third respectively last year.

Since a challenging race in Mexico – a fearless race strategy didn’t pay off for Jaguar – the team has used the six-week gap between races to enhance and improve the cars’ performance.

Rome E-Prix uses one of the longest tracks of the Formula E season – 3.83km with 19 corners but plenty of opportunities to overtake so drivers and engineers must ensure the set-up is perfect.

James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing team principal, explained: “There’s lot of excitement among the team – this track has delivered great results for us. Over the past six weeks they’ve focussed on extracting best performance from our I-Type 5 race car.

“The break in the season let us reset and get our championship fight back on track. We’re determined to get back into racing for points and podiums.

Phil Charles, Jaguar TCS Racing’s technical manager: “Rome is a fantastic track, certainly a driver and team favourite. As a layout it’s extremely demanding – an undulating track with cambers and twists.

“For the engineers, it’s critical the set-up and systems are right; for the drivers it’s important to stay in tune with the track and the car throughout.”

The fourth and fifth rounds of the 2022 ABB FIA Formula E World championship will air live on SuperSport on April 9 and 10, 2022.
