Maserati GranTurismo Folgore takes to the streets

ROME, Italy – A prototype Maserati GranTurismo Folgore pure-electric coupé has taken to the streets for the first time for the Rome E-Prix 2022. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares rode the prototype to the Eternal City’s Formula E circuit.

The new car will be the first in Maserati history to adopt 100% electric solutions. It will be assembled at the Mirafiori production hub and debut in showrooms in 2023.

Maserati says it will be “a true icon” for the brand and will have the characteristic Maserati sound as well as cutting-edge technical solutions, superb performance, comfort, and elegance.

Maserati believes it is innovative by nature so is looking to a future in Formula E. The company added: “It was a natural choice for the Trident brand and is expected to become the first Italian brand to compete in the ABB FIA Formula E World championship.”

Maserati will also, The Corner was told, become the first Italian luxury car brand to produce 100% electric models whose range will be completed by 2025 and the entire Maserati range would be full-electric by 2030.
