JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – The Renault Triber has been in the SA market for more than two years and, the automakers says, as “an appealing offering with exceptional value-for-money and a strong foothold as a contender in the AB Entry Hatch segment.
In a bid to expand the Renault range and to meet market needs the brand has extended the Triber range to include a Renault Triber Express panel van which, Renault says, “presents an innovative SUV design – a well-equipped vehicle with impressive load space to accommodate the needs of South African commercial customers.
DISTINCTIVE SUV DESIGN CUES
The SUV-inspired Express carries projector headlights, roof rails that can take 50kg, diode running lights, chromed grille and 182mm ground clearance. Skid plates will handle modest off-tar deliveries.
The driver’s seat has six-way adjustment, powered door windows rear parking proximity warning. All very nice but this Triber is a working vehicle modified to have maximum load volume – the aforementioned 1400 litres and payload of 542kg
There’s also 41 litres of storage space, including centre console and “glove” box and the humans will be protected by steel mesh. One wouldn’t want to damage the interior with its two-tone trim and “striking” finish with its dual-tone facia and silver accents.
Instrumentation is digital with diode illumination and “sporty” graphics close an infotainment system carrying radio, Bluetooth, and USB and AUX ports.
OPTIMISED ENGINE EFFICIENCY
The three-cylinder engine is described as “a perfect balance of performance and fuel economy” – a one-litre, five-speed manual delivering 52kW/96Nm. Further treats for the driver will be anti-lock brakes, remote central locking, and speed sensing door locks.
Five body colours will be available: white, red, silver, blue or yellow.
The whole package will be delivered with a two-year or 30 000km (wcf) service plan, a five-year or 150 000km (wcf) mechanical warranty and a six-year anti-corrosion warranty.
Service intervals 15 000km. Recommended retail price – R219 900.
