CAPE TOWN, South Africa – Witzenberg Motor Club Racing4 Change and the Western Province Motor Club will host an ‘Outta Control’ gymkhana and Straight-Line challenge at the city’s Killarney Raceway on Women’s Day (Tuesday August 9).

The club says it will be a rare opportunity to tackle two motorsport disciplines at the same venue and in the same car with a full field of spectacular drivers and drifters.

There will be various challenges – racing against the clock as well as lots of sideways action on the gymkhana course where many gymkhana hotshots believe the fastest way around a tight corner is to throw the car in sideways then accelerate – hard!

It doesn’t always work but is very entertaining…!

The event will start with straight-line competition on the drag strip from 9-11am then the same competitors will move to a demanding gymkhana course on the oval track. To follow there will be racing until about 5pm.

There will be hot food and cold drinks (including halaal) on sale all day or bring your cooler box and skottel for your own catering. Bring the family and make a day of it on this midweek public holiday – you could even win a passenger ride in a gymkhana car.

DJ Ready D and his Safer Roads for All campaign, as well as Safely Home – a government-funded programme for safer roads in South Africa.

Admission will be R100 for adults, R20 for under-16s, free for children younger than 12. Enter at either Gate 1 on Potsdam Road or Gate 5, opposite the entrance to the dump.

Tickets cash or cards accepted.
